Return and filter

Air quality testing and HVAC inspection in Houston

A look at what your system is actually moving through the house, plus an HVAC inspection, before anyone sells you a fix.

Where dust, mold and allergens ride through the house

Your heating and cooling system moves the same air through the house all day. Each trip pulls it across the return grille, through the filter, over the coil and out the supply runs to every register. If something is building up along that path, the air carries some of it into the rooms you live in. Most ducts are hidden and overlooked, which is how dust, debris and sometimes mold get a long head start.

Testing starts from that path. Before anyone talks about cleaning, we want to know what your system is actually handling. A visit follows the air: the return grille and the filter first, then the register faces and the boots behind them, then what you smell when the blower kicks on. A grey, packed filter or a musty first minute of airflow tells us where to look next.

Houston asks a lot of an air handler. The A/C runs most of the year, the coil stays wet, and the return often pulls air from an attic or a closet that is warm and dusty. That combination is why we look at the whole run instead of one vent.

The HVAC inspection that goes with it

Checking the air without looking at the equipment would be half a job, so the HVAC inspection from our service list comes along with it. We look at how the filter fits and what shape it's in, the evaporator coil where we can reach it, the drain pan and condensate area for staining, and the air handler cabinet. Mold and bacteria can grow on the coil and the filters, and when they do it raises energy use and adds to air pollution in the house.

The ductwork gets the same attention wherever it's visible: attic runs, joints, flex that has sagged or kinked, boots that have pulled loose from the ceiling. Dust and debris collect in ducts over the years and block airflow, and a room that never seems to cool is often the first clue that a run is choked or leaking.

We keep the inspection in plain terms. We're looking at filters, returns, coil and ducts, the parts you can point to, and we tell you what each one looked like when we opened it up.

What you hear when the visit is over

You get a straight account of what we saw. If the system looks fine, we say so. If there's build-up in the runs, we point to duct cleaning. If we find mold or bacteria, that's air duct mold removal, with a UV light at the air handler as an option afterward. If a run is leaking or the insulation has gone tired, that's sealing and insulation. If the problem is the equipment itself, it moves over to repair. You decide what happens next.

The estimate is 100% free, and you can call (281) 715-0597 from anywhere in Houston or the towns around it, from Bellaire and Pasadena out to Pearland and Humble. Pick a service date and one of our two-hour windows, from 9 to 11 am through 5 to 7 pm, and the phones are answered every day from 8 am to 11 pm.

One note on the $98 coupon: it reads "clean your duct & vents", it's priced per unit, and restrictions may apply, so it belongs to a cleaning rather than a test. Ask how your system would count when you call and we'll tell you before the visit is booked.
