Joints and runs
Duct sealing and insulation for Houston attics
Leaking joints sealed and tired runs re-insulated or replaced, so the air you pay to cool reaches the rooms instead of the attic.
How leaks and tired insulation show up
Most Houston homes run their ducts through the attic, where the summer heat sits far above the temperature of the rooms below. A duct up there is a tube of flex or sheet metal wrapped in insulation, and every joint is a place it can let go. Old tape dries out and peels at the collar, a branch run sags between its supports, the outer jacket splits, and the fiberglass underneath goes flat and wet or dusty.
From inside the house you'd notice something simpler: one room that never cools like the others, a register that barely breathes, an A/C that runs and runs. Dust and debris in the ducts block and reduce airflow too, so a leak and a clog can look the same from the register. That's why we follow the run from the register back to the blower before we call it one or the other.

Sealing the joints, repairing or replacing the runs
Sealing is done joint by joint: where flex slides over a collar, where a branch meets the trunk, where the trunk meets the plenum. Foil tape or mastic goes over the seam and a strap holds the duct to the fitting, because a seal on a loose joint won't last through a Houston summer in an attic.
Insulation gets the same treatment. Where the jacket is torn or crushed, we repair or replace it. A run that's sagging gets lifted and supported so air isn't fighting a kink. If a section is too far gone to save, ductwork repair or replacement is on our list of services, and we'll tell you which sections need it and which don't. The estimate is 100% free.
Attic work is easier before the afternoon heat, so if you'd rather have us up there early, ask for the 9 to 11 am window when you book.
Why it matters when the attic is the hottest room
Cooled air that leaks out of a duct goes into the attic instead of your living room. You paid to cool it and the room never got it. We won't put a savings figure on that, because it depends on the house, the equipment and how bad the leaks are. What we can say is that a system pushing air into an attic has more work to do to hold the rooms at temperature, and sealing is how you stop that.
It also pairs with a clean. Once the ducts are cleaned, sealed and insulated, the air that leaves the blower is the air that arrives at the register. If you've had your ducts cleaned and a room still won't cool, sealing is the next place to look. And if we find mold or heavy build-up while we're in the attic, we'll flag it and can take care of it.
Call (281) 715-0597 any day from 8 am to 11 pm and describe the room that won't cool. The $98 per-unit coupon is for cleaning ducts and vents, and restrictions apply. Sealing and insulation are quoted after the free estimate, for homes in Houston, Pasadena, Stafford, Deer Park and the rest of our service area.
