Air handler
UV light installation for Houston air handlers
A UV lamp fitted at the air handler after your ducts are cleaned, to cut the chance of mold and build-up collecting again.
A lamp at the air handler, over the coil
A UV light for a home HVAC system is a lamp tube mounted at the air handler and aimed at the evaporator coil and the damp metal around it. That's the part of a Houston system that stays cold and wet through a long summer, and it's where mold can grow on the air conditioner coil and filters, which raises energy use and adds to the pollution moving through your house.
The lamp needs power from the system, and it has to sit clear of the blower, the drain pan and the wiring. How it's mounted depends on how your air handler is built. In a closet unit the access is tight, in an attic unit you're working around a platform and a drain line, so we look at the cabinet and the plenum above it before settling on a spot. Houses in Bellaire, Pasadena and Pearland vary a lot in how the equipment was set in, and we'd rather look than guess.

What the light does after a clean, and what it doesn't
Here's the plain version. A UV light reduces the chance of build-up coming back after your ducts have been cleaned. That's the job, and it's why we offer it as an add-on to the clean. It is not a replacement for cleaning. It doesn't pull dust out of a branch run, it doesn't empty a grey filter, and it doesn't fix a leaking joint in the attic.
Dust and debris still collect in ducts over time and block airflow, and a lamp doesn't touch that. So the order matters: clean first with professional tools and a vacuum, then light the coil. We won't hand you a kill rate or a germ percentage, because we haven't measured one on your system and we won't invent one.
On price, the $98 per-unit coupon is for cleaning your ducts and vents, and restrictions apply. The lamp is quoted separately when we talk, and the estimate is 100% free.
Living with a UV lamp in your system
Once it's in, the lamp is part of the HVAC system, the same as the filter or the blower wheel. Lamps are a wear part, so ask when you book what upkeep the one you're choosing will need and when it should be looked at. Keep changing your filter too. A UV light sits alongside good filtering and clean ducts, it doesn't stand in for either.
If you're not sure whether a lamp makes sense for your house, call (281) 715-0597 any day between 8 am and 11 pm and tell us what you're seeing: a musty smell when the A/C starts, a coil that's been dirty before, or a clean you've already had done. We'll give you a straight answer, including when the answer is that you only need the cleaning.
Booking works in two-hour windows, from 9 to 11 am through 5 to 7 pm, seven days a week. We install UV lights across Houston, Missouri City, Humble, Deer Park and the rest of our service area.
